    Mozambique names 25-man squad for Afcon 2019 tie against Namibia

    Mozambique´s national senior men soccer team coach, Abel Xavier, has named a 25-man side for a crucial tie against Namibia on 13 October at the Estadio Nacional De Zimpent in Maputo, in the qualification round to the 2017 Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Cameroon.

    Xavier has invited all foreign-based stars who ply their trade in Europe and South Africa.

    Mozambique sits second in the group with four points behind Guinea Bissao after two opening matches. Mambas, as the team is known by local fans, beat Zambia 1-0 in an away match in Lusaka before being held to a one-all draw by Guinea Bissau at home early last month.
    Mozambique is in Group K along with Zambia and Namibia at the bottom of the group, currently topped by Guinea Bissau.

    A total of 51 teams entered the tournament, including the hosts Cameroon which qualified automatically for the finals.
